Kirsten Blase

 

 

Kirsten Blase, Soprano, is an artist of broad scope whose repertoire ranges from John Dowland to John Adams, from chamber music to opera. Since her debut she has been sought for her interpretations of Bach, Handel, Mozart and French baroque music. Recent concert appearances include Bach‚s Cantata BWV 21 with Stamford Symphony, Dido and Aeneas with the American Classical Orchestra, Rameau‚s Les Incas du Pérou with the Dallas Bach Society, Clérembault‚s Orfée and Medée with Concert Royal, and exerpts of Cantata BWV 202 at the Carmel Bach Festival. Recent opera appearances have included L‚Amour in Rameau‚s Pygmalion with Concert Royal and the New York Baroque Dance Company, Stravinski‚s Threni at the Netherlands Opera staged by Peter Sellars, and as Olga in The Grand Duchess of Gérolstein at the Pera Theatre of Saint Louis. Ms. Blase has recently retuned from France where she recorded arias and lieder of Gluck under the direction of Martin Gester and Le Parlement de Musique. This spring she will perform the role of the British Dancing Girl in a Blast Films production of The Death of Klinghoffer with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by John Adams. Ms. Blase received her B.M. and M.M. at the Indiana School of Music. She currently resides in London.
