Kent Tritle

 

Kent Tritle,Conductor, enjoys success as one of New York City's leading choral conductors and organists. He is Director of Music Ministries for the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, where he oversees and directs a diverse music program, including over 400 liturgies with music annually. Since his appointment to the church in 1989, Mr. Tritle has brought the professional Choir of St. Ignatius Loyola to critical acclaim, founded and developed the volunteer Parish Community Choir, and served as artistic consultant on the design and installation in 1993 of the church's four-manual, 68 stop, mechanical-action pipe organ. He is Music Director of the highly regarded Sacred Music in a Sacred Space concert series, which he founded at St. Ignatius Loyola in 1990, and since 1996 he has also been Music Director of the Dessoff Choirs and a member of the faculty of The Juilliard School.

 

Mr. Tritle performs frequently as organist with the New York Philharmonic and the American Symphony Orchestra and has given recitals in New York City and across the U.S., and in Leipzig (at the invitation of the Gewandhaus) and Merseburg, Germany. He has recorded on the AMDG, Epiphany, Gothic, VAI and Telarc labels, and recently he recorded with principal players of the New York Philharmonic for the Cala label. His Romantic Organ recording on Epiphany Records was named "Best Recording of the Year" in 1996 by the national radio program Audiophile Audition. Mr. Tritle earned graduate and undergraduate degrees in organ performance and choral conducting from the Juilliard School, New York City.
